Changing motorcycle oil is one of the important steps in maintaining your motorcycle at home during the pandemic season

1. What problems will motorcycles face if left unused for extended periods?

A motorcycle is essentially a system of interconnected components working according to specific principles. When not used for long periods, this system risks experiencing internal technical failures, such as components becoming stuck due to motorcycle oil drying out.

First is the rust and corrosion of chains, sprockets, and brake discs. These are all components easily corroded by atmospheric moisture. Especially when not regularly cleaned and lubricated with motorcycle oil, accumulated mud and dirt over time make chains and sprockets increasingly susceptible to rust and metal flaking.

Chains and sprockets are areas where rust easily occurs if not properly maintained.

Next is fuel leakage in auxiliary fuel tanks caused by fuel float mechanism malfunction or jamming, which creates gaps and causes the auxiliary tank to leak.

Regarding tires and tubes, after prolonged non-use they are prone to deformation, and may even develop punctures or cracks from insects and animals gnawing and damaging the interior (especially common with Air Blade and SH models).

Additionally, fuel tanks can oxidize as gasoline evaporates, causing the tank interior to contact air directly. Over time, the lining peels away, forming rust layers. These deposits entering fuel lines can cause blockage and damage to the tank.

2. Guide to Maintaining Your Motorcycle During the Pandemic Season

To keep your motorcycle in good condition during prolonged periods of non-use, fill the fuel tank completely before putting the bike away. This prevents the tank surface from oxidizing due to moisture and humid air, preventing rust and sediment buildup at the tank bottom. More seriously, these cont
