Tire bulging is caused by the tire sidewall being subjected to significant impacts from environmental factors. These impacts can break the steel belts inside the tire, causing changes to the internal structure of the motorcycle inner tube and creating conditions for air to enter between the two rubber layers and accumulate there. This results in the tire losing its load-bearing capacity and experiencing bulging.

2. Causes of motorcycle tire bulging

There are many causes leading to tire bulging, with some common ones being:

  • Motorcycles frequently traveling on poor, rough, uneven road sections with potholes and ruts. When encountering these obstacles, the tire may not bulge immediately but may show signs after some time. In this case, you can fix it yourself if you know how to replace the motorcycle inner tube and tire. If not, you should contact maintenance and repair centers.

There are many causes leading to tire bulging

  • Tire pressure not meeting standards, with the tire either under-inflated or over-inflated, causing deformation when moving. Additionally, weather conditions can also affect tire pressure.
  • Using low-quality motorcycle tires of unknown origin, where the materials used to manufacture the tire have poor durability. You should choose good quality tires and inner tubes with clear origins to minimize risks of tire bulging and other damage issues.
  • Unprofessional mechanics performing repairs and tire patching can also cause tire bulging. If the inner surface of the tire is sanded multiple times, it can result in uneven tire thickness, with some areas becoming too thin and prone to bulging.
