Through comparison, it can be seen that synthetic oil is superior in quality. However, each vehicle has different requirements, so it is essential to research thoroughly to select the right oil for your vehicle.

2. Recommendations for Engine Oil Suitable for Each Type of Vehicle

2.1 Motorcycles

2.1.1 Scooters

  • Viscosity Requirement: Generally, scooters do not require high viscosity. If the oil is too thick, the scooter may struggle during operation. The appropriate viscosity grade for scooters is 10W-30 or 10W-40. Additionally, you should change the oil according to the manufacturer's recommendations. For example, Yamaha, Suzuki, and Piaggio recommend using motorcycle oil with a rating of 10W-40, while Honda scooters recommend oil with a viscosity of 10W-30.
  • API Rating: The common oil quality grade for scooters is SL. If you want a better product, you can choose SM or SN.
  • Oil Type: It’s advisable to choose synthetic oil as it is the highest quality available today. However, if the cost is too high, you can opt for semi-synthetic oil as an alternative.

2.1.2 Manual Motorcycles

  • For low-powered motorcycles or older models, it’s best to choose mineral or semi-synthetic oils to optimize costs.
  • For new, high-powered motorcycles that frequently travel long distances, synthetic oil should be selected to ensure engine durability and smooth operation.
  • Choose oil labeled with Jaso MA for older models and Jaso MA 2 for newer, high-powered models.
  • Viscosity should be selected as SAE W40 or W50; for lower performance motorcycles, a lower W viscosity can be chosen.

2.2 Large Displacement Motorcycles

  • Choose synthetic oil with excellent heat resistance and higher viscosity.
  • Select oils that meet Jaso Ma or Jaso Ma 2 standards, as these oils have high friction and adhesion properties, helping to
