The Wave is a very popular motorcycle line in Vietnam.
1. Standards for choosing oil for the Wave
The Wave is a well-known motorcycle model from Honda, commonly recognized through popular variants such as Wave RSX, Wave Alpha, Wave S/RS, etc. Under normal operating conditions, you should change the engine oil for the Wave after running about 1,500 – 2,000 km. If the bike operates continuously in a dusty and hot environment, the oil change interval can be shortened.
Here are some standards you need to consider when choosing oil for the Wave:
1.1. Oil Volume
According to the manufacturer, the oil capacity of the Wave is 0.8 liters. Most oil products available in the market currently meet this volume requirement.
1.2. JASO Index
Similar to other four-stroke motorcycles, the Wave also requires oil to meet JASO MA or MA2 standards (e.g., Repsol Smarter Sport 4T oil). Products that meet these technical requirements will have a high friction coefficient and are suitable for use in wet clutch systems.

JASO MA, MA2 are oil standards for motorcycles.
1.3. Oil Base
The Wave does not have strict requirements regarding the oil base. You can choose mineral oil or semi-synthetic oil to save costs. However, if your budget allows, 100% synthetic oil would be the best choice to ensure your bike runs smoothly and lasts longer.
1.4. SAE Oil Grade
Depending on your actual usage needs, you can select from common oil grades in Vietnam such as: 10W40, 5W40, 5W30, 10W30, 20W40, 15W40, etc.
