What Factors Influence the Latest Lubricant Formula for 4-Stroke Motorcycles?

In Vietnam, four-stroke motorcycles have become ubiquitous, and the market today offers numerous lubricant options for these vehicles, such as manual clutch motorcycle oil and automatic transmission motorcycle oil. These lubricants are continuously developed with new formulations to deliver optimal performance. Today, let's explore with Huynh Chau the most important factors that influence the manufacturing of four-stroke motorcycle lubricants!

1. Quality Standards

When selecting any motorcycle oil product, most people are concerned about the quality of the lubricant and want to know the price of motorcycle oil. However, you should first carefully check the specifications listed on the product label to choose the appropriate oil for your motorcycle.

In fact, lubricant labels include many different specifications. You may not need to understand all of them, but you should grasp the basic and particularly important parameters such as JASO, SAE, and API.

For four-stroke motorcycles like manual clutch bikes, the lubricant should have a JASO MA or MA2 rating. The SAE standard commonly used for manual clutch motorcycles is typically 10W30, 10W40, 10W50, etc. The higher the number after the "W" character, the thicker the lubricant. For motorcycles that frequently travel long distances, you should choose thicker oil compared to those used for regular city driving.

When selecting motorcycle oil, pay special attention to three important specifications: JASO, SAE, and API

Meanwhile, API is the standard used to evaluate lubricant performance and is categorized progressively by alphabet. The higher the API rating, the better the engine protection performance of the lubricant. Currently, API SP is the highest API rating available on the market.

However, note that higher-grade lubricants come with correspondingly higher prices. Therefore, consult the motorcycle oil price list carefully to decide which lubricant to purchase.

2. Transitioning to Lighter Viscosity Oil

In practice, thicker lubricant is not necessarily better. The friction process of oil within gears increases overall engine inertia and causes fuel
