1. Notes on running-in period for newly purchased motorcycles

For a new motorcycle, the first 1,000 km (run-in period) is an extremely important phase. During this period, the engine is still new, and the various components, joints, and gears are in very tight contact with each other. Therefore, you should not drive at excessively high speeds for extended periods. This can cause the engine to overheat and components to wear quickly due to friction.

The run-in period is divided into 4 stages with the following operation notes:

When the motorcycle starts for the first time

On the first startup, fill the engine oil according to the manufacturer's recommendations. Then, let the engine run idle for a few minutes so that the oil coats all engine components evenly.

Fill oil according to recommendations during the first run-in period

Stage from 0 – 150 km

During operation, do not accelerate beyond 1/3 throttle opening. After the motorcycle has run continuously for about 1 hour, stop for 5-10 minutes and let the engine cool naturally.

Stage from 150 – 500 km

At this stage, do not accelerate beyond 1/2 throttle opening. Additionally, frequently vary the engine speed but avoid wide-open throttle.

Stage 500 – 1,000 km

During this stage, do not run the motorcycle continuously at speeds exceeding 3/4 throttle opening. On the other hand, this is also when you should change the engine oil, transmission fluid (for scooters), and clean the oil filter.
