Manual clutch motorcycle maintenance differs from regular motorcycles and scooters

1. Proper clutch lever adjustment

The clutch lever is located on the left side of the motorcycle and is responsible for manually engaging and disengaging the clutch mechanism. Therefore, proper clutch lever adjustment is a fundamental way to maintain your motorcycle and increase its durability.

The clutch operates by bringing the motorcycle into Neutral—disengaging the clutch by "squeezing" the lever to separate the internal clutch plates. When you "release" the lever, it engages the clutch plates, which is the mechanism that allows the wheels to move.

The manufacturer has designed two adjustment positions for the clutch: at the engine casing and at the clutch lever itself. Notably, the adjustment screws for travel calibration are also located here.

Proper clutch lever adjustment increases engine durability

The following tips for clutch lever adjustment will help effectively increase your motorcycle's durability:

  • Stretched clutch cable

Clutch cable stretching is a common condition when the engine operates after extended use, showing signs of sluggishness and producing uncomfortable noise during gear shifts. You can resolve this issue by readjusting the clutch system.

  • Clutch adjustment spacing

Leave a freeplay gap of 2 to 3 mm when adjusting so the friction plates in the clutch can move freely. If there is too little clearance, the friction plates will easily rub against each other and wear quickly. Excessive friction can even cause them to ignite.

  • Clutch at the engine casing position

For the clutch at the engine casing position, the adjustment point for the clutch cut-off level depends on the distance traveled. Regularly lubricate the clutch cable tube to reduce friction between the inner tube and cable. This is an effective way to reduce
