Amsoil XL 0W-20 Synthetic Motor Oil
Enhanced Protection to Extend Engine Life
AMSOIL XL 0W-20 Synthetic Motor Oil – XLO features an advanced formula that delivers outstanding cleaning power, superior wear control, excellent high and low temperature protection, and optimal fuel economy. XLO is engineered for gasoline engines with advanced technology, including turbos and direct injection. XLO is packed with extra engine protection, allowing you to extend oil change intervals to 3,000 km for conventional vehicles and 12,000 km for vehicles equipped with electronic oil monitoring systems.
Applications
Use AMSOIL XL Synthetic Motor Oil in applications requiring any of the following specifications:
0W-20 (XLO)
• API SP, SN PLUS, SM ...; ACEA A3 / B3, A3 / B4
Viscosity Retention Capability
XL synthetic motor oil maintains fluidity (viscosity) under the most severe conditions. Some oils degrade and increase viscosity significantly after extended operation at high temperatures. These changes can cause excessive oil consumption, engine sludge, rapid wear, and difficult cold starting. The GM Oxidation and Sludge Test (GMOD) uses a 5.7L V8 engine running at 293ºF (100º hotter than normal) for 100 hours. These severe operating conditions test the oil's ability to maintain viscosity, resist sludge, and control oil consumption. Testing shows AMSOIL XL Synthetic Motor Oil provides protection against oil failure 64% greater than required by GM dexos1® Gen 2 specifications, ensuring protection under extreme temperatures.
Piston Protection Against Low-Speed Pre-Ignition
XL synthetic motor oil features special chemistry proven to protect your engine against the damaging effects of low-speed pre-ignition (LSPI). LSPI is spontaneous ignition of the fuel/air mixture before spark plug ignition. Most modern engines feature gasoline direct injection (GDI), often combined with turbocharging. These technologies increase the likelihood of LSPI events, which can destroy pistons and connecting rods. Properly formulated motor oil is critical to protect your engine against LSPI.
