Tips for Choosing Motorcycle Tires

The tire is the only component that makes direct contact with the road when the vehicle is in motion, affecting the speed of the vehicle and the safety of the driver. Depending on the design and usage needs, as well as the terrain, you can choose either a tubeless motorcycle tire or a traditional tubed tire.
So, aside from the type, what other criteria should be considered when choosing a motorcycle tire? Refer to the following article from Huynh Chau to select the appropriate tire.

What other criteria should be considered to select a quality tire that is suitable for your vehicle?
1. Choose the recommended tire size
Different types of vehicles have different specifications, and consequently, the tire types also vary. Therefore, you should carefully check the instructions that come with a new vehicle or any recommendations from the manufacturer to know exactly which tire fits the wheel rim in particular and the whole vehicle in general.
Regarding tire types, a tubed tire may not be compatible with a tubeless rim, but a tubeless tire can still be used normally on a rim with a tube, whether it is a cast rim or a spoked rim.

You can replace a tubed tire with a tubeless tire.
In terms of specifications, although it is always recommended to choose quality motorcycle tires, using the wrong size can negatively affect the vehicle's performance and safety. To know precisely which tire suits your vehicle, consider the specifications printed on the side of the old tire.
The most important specification to pay attention to is the tire size, indicated by a group of three characters and numbers separated by a “/” or “-”. The first number indicates width (in mm), the second number indicates height (as a percentage of the first number). For example, a tire marked 170/60 16 means the height of the tire is: 170 x 0.6 (mm). The third number indicates the diameter of the wheel rim, measured in inches. In summary, a tire 170/60 16 has dimensions of: 170mm wide, 170 x 0.6 mm high, and a rim diameter of 16 inches.
Other important specifications to consider include maximum speed (indicated by a capital letter), maximum load (next to the tire pressure - indicated by a number from 33 to 90), and the production date (the four digits after "DOT").

The tire must be compatible with the rim size.
