Is Your Motorcycle Stuttering and Running Rough? Have You Tried Changing Your Engine Oil?

Is your motorcycle running less efficiently and durably than when you first purchased it? If the oil in your reservoir has turned black, this is exactly what causes your engine to experience unwanted issues such as stalling, difficult starting, and excessive smoke and dust.

So can an oil change fix these problems? What type of oil should you use? Huynh Chau will help you find answers to these questions in the article below.

Why you need to change your motorcycle oil

1. Why is your motorcycle running inefficiently?

Motorcycles are daily transportation vehicles that serve personal needs such as commuting, studying, and even traveling (for sport bike models). However, when your motorcycle runs inefficiently, your "bike" may be affected by the following reasons:

  • Poor daily riding habits

Bad riding habits are why your engine runs poorly and lacks durability. One reason oil quality deteriorates is accelerating immediately after starting. Riding right after engine ignition causes startup components to work suddenly without sufficient time for the engine to warm up completely.

This riding method negatively affects the system, causing components to break down quickly. At that point, the oil hasn't had time to circulate for lubrication, and metal surfaces rub directly against each other, causing the engine to perform weakly.

Additionally, other habits such as long-distance riding, traveling on difficult terrain, continuous engine starting, etc. all cause motorcycle oil to be depleted quickly, accumulate deposits, and lose its effectiveness.

  • Riding in poor weather conditions

Riding in unstable weather conditions such as flooding, muddy and pothole-filled roads, etc. causes your motorcycle to stall easily, move in jerks, and have difficulty accelerating.

Regular contact with rainwater, mud, or water entering the crankcase during flooding contaminates the oil with water, reducing its original lubrication ability. If you don't perform regular maintenance or change your motorcycle oil frequently, your "bike" will deteriorate and break down quickly.

Skipping regular motorcycle maintenance

  • How often should you change motorcycle oil? The most appropriate answer is every quarter. Maintenance, repair, and engine overhaul are necessary but
