1. Correct Understanding of Synthetic Oil for Common Vehicle Types

Before exploring the highlights of Repsol oil, Huynh Chau will help readers correctly understand synthetic lubricants designed for common vehicles currently in Vietnam. Let's see which type of oil is suitable for your vehicle!

1.1. What is Synthetic Oil?

Synthetic oil, also known as full synthetic oil, consists of a base oil. The base oil is synthesized and combined with various additives to enhance performance. This type of oil is composed of homogeneous molecular components and is selectively manufactured, providing superior lubrication capability and fuel economy.

Additionally, synthetic oil helps engines run stably at extreme temperatures and increases operational efficiency. However, synthetic oil has drawbacks including poor hydrolytic stability, limited compatibility with other oils, and relatively high pricing.

1.2. Differences Between Lubricants for Scooters and Manual Motorcycles

For manual motorcycles, power transmission comes from gears and wet clutches. Manual motorcycle oil is responsible for lubricating both the engine and clutch. If the oil has low friction and insufficient viscosity, clutch slip will occur, causing engine overheating and sluggish performance. Therefore, manual motorcycle oils must meet JASO MA or MA2 standards from the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association (JASO).

In contrast, scooters use belt transmission (without gear boxes) and dry clutches. As a result, scooter oil only lubricates the engine to enable faster acceleration, maximize power output, provide better cooling, and improve fuel economy. Consequently, scooter oil viscosity is typically lower than manual motorcycle oil. Additionally, scooter oil has lower friction properties and only needs to meet JASO MB standards.
