Beginner riders often have many misconceptions about large-displacement motorcycles

1. Believing that one-sided headlight illumination means it's broken

Many modern large-displacement motorcycles are equipped with dual headlight systems. However, for safety reasons, the lights are only activated on one side.

Specifically, the motorcycle has a default low beam (dipped beam) activated on one side, even during the day, to increase visibility for other vehicles. The high beam on the other side is only activated when riding on highways or when flashing warning signals (passing).

Therefore, one-sided light illumination is completely normal and not a malfunction as many people mistakenly believe.

2. More tire grooves mean better road grip

Many beginner large-displacement motorcycle riders believe that more tire grooves provide better road grip. However, in reality, tire grooves only serve to channel water away during rain or on slippery roads.

A tire's road grip depends on two factors: the rubber material that makes up the tire and the tire's width. The larger the contact area between the tire and the road, the better the grip. This means tires with fewer grooves (more contact area) will have better road grip.

Therefore, in MotoGP races, if it's not raining, motorcycles typically use tires without grooves. Grooved tires are only used during rain to ensure safety.

3. Choosing the wrong exhaust pipe type

The exhaust pipe is an important component that creates the distinctive sound of a large-displacement motorcycle. Besides the basic exhaust pipe that comes with the motorcycle
