When Does Your Car Need an Oil Change?

When Does Your Car Need an Oil Change?

Lubricants such as Top 1, Fuchs, Repsol, etc., are often referred to as the lifeblood of an engine, serving to lubricate components and enabling smoother vehicle operation. However, if you're not well-informed about the replacement process or choose an unsuitable oil, you could reduce the lifespan of your beloved vehicle. Here, Huynh Chau shares valuable tips on changing oil and recommends quality lubricants suitable for various vehicle types. Let’s take a look!

Changing oil for your vehicle is a very important task.

1. The importance of timely oil changes

Oil plays a crucial role in the operation of motorcycles; regularly changing oil ensures smoother functioning. It lubricates, cleans, and seals important engine components such as pistons, rings, and clutch discs in manual transmission bikes. Additionally, oil helps cool the engine and reduces fuel consumption.

Motorcycles need regular oil changes to operate smoothly and durably.

If the oil in a motorcycle is not changed regularly, it can lead to serious consequences, such as reduced lifespan, sluggish performance, unpleasant noises, and even failure if not repaired in time.

2. 5 important points to remember before changing oil

To change oil correctly, you need to keep the following five points in mind:

When does the bike need an oil change?

According to experts and repair service centers, for newer motorcycles, oil should be changed after every 2,000 km, and for scooters, every 1,000 to 1,500 km. However, these figures can vary based on factors such as usage time, weather conditions, intensity of use (high or low), speed, and oil quality (for example, Fuchs Silkolene Pro 4 10W40 can last over 3,000 km between changes, while Top One oil lasts between 2,500 km and 4,000 km).

If you use Top One oil, it’s recommended to change it every 2,500 - 4,000 km.

To be sure about the oil change timing for your vehicle, you can check the oil quality yourself. First, let the engine rest for 30 - 60 minutes. Then, use a dipstick to check the oil level. If the stick is dry or the oil is below the allowable level (marked point X), it means the bike is out of oil.

To check the quality, you need to observe the oil color. If the oil is light yellow and gradually thinning, it is still usable. If the oil is dark gray and thinning quickly
