Currently, the Vietnamese market has many lubricant brands for motorcycles. Sellers need to master basic information about popular lubricant brands, price levels, motorcycle lubricant specifications, and how to choose the right type of lubricant for different motorcycle models.

  • Popular Lubricant Brands in Vietnam

Popular lubricant brands currently available in Vietnam can be divided into two main categories: international brands and domestic brands. International brands manufactured and imported directly from abroad include: Repsol, Amsoil, Essenza, Castrol, Shell, Motul, Mobil, Fuchs, Top 1, Pennzoil, and others. Some popular domestic brands include Saigon Petro, PLC, Indo-Petrol, Grand Oil, and more.

  • Meaning of Motorcycle Lubricant Specifications

Two important motorcycle lubricant specifications are the API performance level (standard of the American Petroleum Institute) and the SAE lubricant grade (standard of the Society of Automotive Engineers).

The API grade is used to classify the quality of gasoline and diesel engine oils. On average, every 4-5 years, a new API grade is introduced to meet the lubrication requirements of new engine generations. Currently, API CJ-4 is the highest grade.

Regarding SAE, this is a specification used to measure the thickness-thinness level of lubricants under different temperature conditions, as lubricants tend to thin out when temperature increases and thicken when temperature drops. The SAE grade typically ranges from 30-40-50, with larger numbers indicating better lubrication capability.
