Motorcycle Battery and What You Need to Know

Motorcycle batteries are crucial but receive little attention
What type of battery does your motorcycle have? What size is it? When should you replace your motorcycle battery? If you want to avoid a situation where the horn doesn’t honk, the lights don’t turn on, or worse, the motorcycle won’t start, start paying attention to your motorcycle battery now.
1. How to choose and maintain a motorcycle battery properly?
We all know that the battery is responsible for supplying power to start the vehicle, illuminate the lights, and support the EFI (fuel injection) and other electrical devices. Furthermore, the battery serves as a backup power system for the controller and other signal systems.

The battery's role is to supply power to the motorcycle
Currently, there are two types of batteries used for motorcycles: dry batteries and wet batteries. Dry batteries have a gas-state structure, typically made with components that have excellent electrical conductivity, resulting in low internal resistance. This characteristic helps prevent self-discharge when not in use and enhances discharge capability during operation.
Moreover, when the motorcycle is inactive for an extended period, the battery still retains charge without needing to be recharged upon reuse. Thanks to these features, dry batteries have become increasingly popular compared to wet batteries, and they are relatively inexpensive for their durability.
Some advantages of dry batteries:
- - Can be used immediately upon purchase without needing to add water
- No time spent checking water levels during use
- No corrosive gases generated, so there is no worry about rusting due to electrolyte overflow
- Compact size, convenient, and easy to use
- Dry batteries are also known as maintenance-free sealed batteries - The sizes of dry motorcycle batteries can be categorized into eight popular types:
- 1. For models like Wave RS, Future NEO, AB, Click… marked with YB5L-BS: 12V-5Ah.
2. For models such as Dream, Wave, Sym, Viva, Future,… marked with 12N5-BS: 12V-6Ah.
3. For models like the new Lead… marked with YT6L-BS: 12V-6.5Ah.
4. For models like Novo… marked with 12M7-BS: 12V-7.5Ah.
5. For models
