Manual transmission motorcycles require specialized lubricants

1. Specifications for lubricants suitable for manual motorcycles

Unlike popular automatic and commuter bikes on the market, manual transmission motorcycles generally have larger engine capacities but are not as "heavy" as larger displacement models. Typically, manual motorcycles in Vietnam have engine capacities starting from 150cc, such as Exciter 150, Winner 150, Winner X, Raider, and FZ150.

Lubricants for manual motorcycles have specific standards

Therefore, the type of lubricant used must ensure that the motorcycle achieves its inherent power while saving fuel and providing lubrication and protection for the engine. Based on the specifications printed on the label, you can choose the right lubricant for your needs.

First, depending on your budget, there are two options: synthetic oil and semi-synthetic oil. Synthetic oil offers better quality but comes at a higher price. For those looking to save costs while ensuring effectiveness, semi-synthetic oil is a good choice.

Opt for oil with JASO MA or MA2 ratings, as these indicate oils designated for manual and automatic motorcycles. Common viscosity levels currently on the market include (5w40, 10w40, 10w50…). Pay attention to the higher number; if you mostly travel short distances in the city, a viscosity of 40 like 5w40 or 10w40 is suitable, while for touring or long rides, a viscosity of 50 such as 10w50 or 20w50 is recommended.
